McIntosh is new RBC Barbados managing director

Shimon McIntosh has been appointed managing director of Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) Barbados.

According to a news release from the bank, McIntosh will assume his new position on August 12 this year, and his appointment follows the retirement of Robert de Silva, who has served in the role for the past eight years.

“Along with his expertise in dealing with multi-national corporations, large local private and public sector organisations, he is skilled at creating a collaborative culture and working with partners,” RBC’s head of Caribbean banking, Chris Ronald said.

“We are confident Robert’s legacy has nicely set the team up for success, and we will be able to forge a positive path of progress in Barbados. His numerous accomplishments speak to his stellar leadership, and I sincerely thank him for his service to RBC.”

In addition to being managing director, McIntosh will also continue as area vice president, business banking in Barbados.

McIntosh will help shape RBC’s future success as he builds on the strong foundation established by de Silva in this expanded role as managing director.

He will continue to invest in relationships with regulators, governments, communities, and lead the Barbados team.

McIntosh holds a BSc in Economics and Management and has over 15 years of experience in

commercial, corporate and investment banking.

He brings deep knowledge and experience with clients in the private, as well as public sectors in Barbados.

McIntosh is a member of the Green Committee of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry and was recently elected to the council of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
