At 100 years old, Vinie Maynard is still full of life, gratitude and humour.

Those personality traits shined brightly yesterday as she celebrated her big day with a virtual visit from President The Most Honourable Dame Sandra Mason, while surrounded by family at her Walkers, St Andrew residence.

Maynard was a labourer, and an active member of the Mother’s Union and choir at St Andrew’s Parish Church. Although she has no biological children, she was a mother figure for many relatives who spoke highly of her.

Throughout the celebrations, Maynard was jovial as she spoke about her love for the Lord, her family and food.

“I have not a secret,” she said when asked what helped her to live a long and fruitful life.

“The Lord give me the health and strength and I follow after Him. I did what He told me to do.”  (TG)
