The story of the 1937 riots has been told by historians, Pan Africanists and even Barbadians who were not around during that era; but now for the first time it is being related by a white Barbadian woman who as a child witnessed some of the events as they unfolded.
Author Margaret Knight, mother of former Prime Minister David Thompson, who died in 2010, has written her seventh book, an autobiography of her life from childhood to present day aptly called The Unstoppable Molly Knight and she has dedicated the opening chapter to the historic rebellion, since she believes that white Barbadians have mostly shunned away from discussing this volatile time in Barbados’ history.
