A man was pronounced dead at the scene at Castle Heights, at its junction with Eastbourne main road, St Philip, where his body was found slumped in a car.

The man, who has not been identified, apparently ran off the road and struck some shrubbery in the garden of a home before coming to a stop.

Residents told police they heard gunshots moment before, around 9:50 p.m. on Thursday.

Investigations are continuing. (PR/SAT)
