Barbadian consumers will pay less for gasoline and kerosene, and more for diesel, effective midnight Wednesday, September 14.
The retail price of gasoline will be $4.26 a litre, a decrease of 13 cents, while kerosene will cost $2.16 a litre, a saving of 20 cents, a news release from Barbados Government Information Service stated.
The news release added that diesel will now sell for $3.94 a litre, which is an increase of nine cents.
Last month, Prime Minister Mia Mottley said announced that the retail prices of gasoline and diesel at the pump will be capped for five months at $4.48 a litre and $4.03 a litre, respectively, given the high volatility associated with refined petroleum products.
The measure is expected to bring a level of predictability to the retail prices, and shield consumers from the full increase of refined petroleum products.
When calculated, the new retail prices fell below the cap of the gasoline and diesel, the news release stated.
