Sada eyes Olympic gold in Paris

Back home after she had easily her most memorable year in track and field, and Sada Williams said her aim was to continue improving and an Olympic gold medal in Paris 2024.

Williams strongly believes she can become the best female 400 metres runner in the world after capturing bronze at the World Athletics Championships and gold at the Commonwealth Games during a summer of success.

During an interview on Wednesday following a welcome home motorcade organised by the government for three of the island’s top athletes, Williams said she will be going after more glory on the international athletics stage.

“Of course, without a doubt. I will always try to be the best in the world,” Williams told reporters in the recently renovated Garfield Sobers Suite at the gymnasium of the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex.

The 24-year-old national record holder dipped under 50 seconds five times this season, and she is currently ranked the No. 3 female quarter-miler in the world with a personal best time of 49.75 seconds clocked at the World Athletics Championships this past July in he American city of Eugene in the state of Oregon, where she won bronze.
