The Fair Trading Commission (FTC) will begin its public hearings on Wednesday about an application from the Barbados Light & Power Company (BL&PC) for a rate increase.

BL&PC applied to the FTC for a rate hike that the Company indicated would result in 35 per cent of its approximately 130 000 customers, who use less than 150 kilowatts an hours (kWh) each month, paying no more than a $6 increase.

The hearings will be held at the Accra Beach Hotel and Spa from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily during a continuous period of 12 business days scheduled to end October 6.
