Rickyla Fagan is one step closer to her dream of becoming a professional athlete.

The 19-year-old CARIFTA Games relay silver medallist has earned a four-year scholarship to Mississippi State University where she is pursuing studies in kinesiology.

Fagan, who attended Deighton Griffith Secondary and Combermere School, and was also coached by Leo Garnes in the Cooperators General Insurance Elite Distance Programme, was thrilled when she got the news.

“This is without a doubt one of my biggest achievements as an athlete. I am optimistic that this opportunity will aid me on the path to becoming a professional athlete. My aspiration for the sport of track and field is to proudly represent my country, Barbados at regional and international championships.” (Nation Sports)
