The Barbados Police Service has set up an outpost in The Ivy, St Michael.

It was officially opened on Wednesday and there was heavy police presence in the area as lawmen went door-to-door to talk with residents.

Superintendent Adrian Broomes, who has responsibility for the Bridgetown Division, said they wanted to interact with residents in a meaningful way.

“When we considered a lot of the recent happenings in The Ivy, we put this post down as a means of reassurance and to let the persons in this district know that the police are here and that we understand their concerns,” he said.

Broomes said they would be doing more like this in the communities as they prepare to launch the annual Yuletide Programme for both The City and wider Barbados. (Nation News)
