PM’s Cabinet reshuffle

Prime Minister Mia Mottley announced a major shake-up to her Cabinet that will take effect on Wednesday.

During her address at the Barbados Labour Party’s (BLP) 83rd Annual Conference on Sunday in Queen’s Park, The City, Mottley revealed the changes and who will be charting the country’s course in the immediate future.

Ministers Kerrie Symmonds, Ian Gooding-Edghill, Lisa Cummins and The Most Honourable Jerome Walcott are among those being reassigned.

The latter, who was Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, will now will be Minister of Health and Wellness.

Gooding-Edghill, who currently holds the health portfolio, will become Minister of Tourism and International Transport.

Cummins will shift from tourism to be responsible for Energy and Business Development, wit emphasis on International Business and Trade.

Symmonds moves on from energy to become Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.

In other moves, Member of Parliament for the City of Bridgetown, Corey Lane, will now be in the Office of the Attorney-General as Minister of State with responsibility for Crime Prevention and veteran St Thomas MP, Cynthia Forde, will be nominated Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly during the next sitting on Tuesday morning.
