Half centuries by captain Shai Hope and Roston Chase were not enough to save Barbados Pride from a 64-run defeat to Jamaica Scorpions in the Super50 Cup on Thursday night.

Hope scored 86 and Chase 57, but the middle and tail proved fragile as Pride were all out for 213 in response to a challenging 277 by Scorpions at the Vivian Richards Cricket Ground in Antigua.

Pride lost the last five wickets for a mere seven runs, and once Hope fell with the score on 208 for 7, the innings wrapped up soon after.

Earlier, Scorpions captain Rovman Powell posted 80 and Nkrumah Bonner 59 as Jamaica made the most of their partnerships. Odean Smith added a valuable unbeaten 44 at the end.

Summarised scores:

Jamaica Scorpions 277 for six in 50 overs (Rovman Powell 80, Nkrumah Bonner 59, Odean Smith 44 not out; Roston Chase 3-33). Barbados Pride 213 in 44.1 overs (Shai Hope 86, Roston Chase 57; Nicholson Gordon 3-21, Odean Smith 2-24). Scorpions won by 64 runs. (SAT)
