The cries of some of Barbados’ contractors and artisans have not fallen on deaf ears.

During a press conference last Thursday, the Contractors and Artisans Co-op Society charged that their members were not being afforded the same empowering opportunities as the bigger players, and Minister of Housing, Lands and Maintenance Dwight Sutherland says he is willing to meet with them.

“We treat all Barbadians the same way. When I was Minister of Small Business and Commerce, I formed that Cooperative and I am an advocate for the cooperative.

“The 400 odd workers that we employed to repair the houses after Hurricane Elsa are small contractors,” Sutherland said last Friday at St Matthias, Christ Church, where he gave an update on the National Housing Corporation’s ir electrical upgrades project.  (TG)
