Patrons were taken back in time at yesterday’s Independence Ole Time Picnic and Police Band Concert at the National Botanical Gardens, St Michael.

The concert, which is a part of the activities for Independence celebrations, featured the Barbados Police Band and steelpan musical medleys for the audience to enjoy.

“We thought, in the month of November, let us give Bajans something that doesn’t cost anything, you can bring your children to. It is age-appropriate, it is family-centred and it just allows everybody to enjoy themselves,” said Minister of Home Affairs Wilfred Abrahams.

There was also food and activities for the children.

“It is just an amazing event,” he added, “and I am glad to see people have turned out, and I have no doubt that this is going to grow and become a calendar event.” (Nation News)
