Nunes, Hughes among winners

Champion trainer Andrew “Busha” Nunes and defending champion jockey Rasheed Hughes were among a quartet landing double wins on the Barbados Thoroughbred Breeders Association’s Raceday Saturday at the historic Garrison Savannah.

The other double winners on the Barbados Turf Club’s second race day of the third season were trainer Victor Cheeseman and jockey Kenny John.

Nunes won the fifth race with Hot Stepper before taking the next event with Bonita Bay while, Hughes triumphed in race three with Michal and returned to land the seventh race astride War Eagle, which was saddled by Cheeseman.

Cheeseman also gained success through Bajan Azteca in the opener while John’s brace came courtesy of Jericho in the second race and Ares in the fourth. (LY)
