‘Lil Man’ opts out before semis

Road tennis fans will not get to see the ultimate battle between the supreme attacker Antonio “Lil Man” Daniel and heir apparent Shakeem Nurse any time soon.

The expected clash between the two shots creators was scuttled on Wednesday in the final round of the Barbados Cup put on by the Barbados Professional Road Tennis Association at the Netball Stadium.

An injury to Daniel gave Nurse a default win and an expected stroll into tonight’s semi-finals.

The entire second round fixture was rained out on Tuesday night which saw all 16 of the players receiving one point. Daniel defeated the stylish Dario Hinds on Monday night while Nurse beat Aaron Barker. Another veteran Julian “Michael Jackson” White lost to Davien “Force Ripe” Taylor. (KB)
