The state wants Anderson Ryan Ince to be retried for stealing more than $1.1 million from the Psychiatric Hospital almost 20 years ago.

Senior State Counsel Olivia Davis gave that position when she spoke in the appeal brought by Ince in the Court of Appeal on Thursday.

It was in October 2017 that Ince, of Hannays, St Lucy, and formerly of Yearwood Road, Sugar Hill, St Joseph, was found guilty of stealing $1 118 500 belonging to the Psychiatric Hospital between August 1, 2003, and August 1, 2005.

He was also found guilty of money laundering in that he engaged in transactions totalling $1 118 500, which were the proceeds of crime.

He was sentenced in June 2018 to ten years, less the 254 days he had spent on remand, on each count. He was ordered to serve the remaining nine years and 111 days. (HLE)
