The current emergency protocols have come to an end today and the emergency powers have officially been lifted.

Chief Medical Officer, The Most Honorable Dr Kenneth George, made the announcement during a media briefing on Wednesday to discuss COVID-19 protocols at the Ministry of Health.

He also announced there were five confirmed cases of RSV or respiratory syncytial virus.

According to the American Centres for Disease Control: “RSV is a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms. Most people recover in a week or two, but RSV can be serious, especially for infants and older adults. RSV is the most common cause of bronchiolitis (inflammation of the small airways in the lung) and pneumonia (infection of the lungs) in children younger than 1 year of age in the United States”.

Mask wearing is no longer mandatory in schools and public transport. (Nation News)
