The man who died in a house fire at Westmoreland, St James, has been identified as 76-year-old Millington Donavan Drakes.

Fire destroyed the house, which had a shop attached, just after 2 a.m. today.

His daughter Cheryl Morris told Nation News she heard the news and arrived on the scene after 4 a.m.

“He was generous. He had his ways, but he was generous. If he ain’t had he would give. That is how he was … he was a no-nonsense person,” she said of the father of seven.

Three fire tenders responded and extinguished the blaze.
