Commuters on public service vehicles (PSVs) are being advised to take full responsibility for their own health, even as the Alliance Owners of Public Transport welcomes the removal of the mask mandate.
On Wednesday, Chief Medical Officer The Most Honourable Dr Kenneth George announced the end to the COVID-19 Directive as well as mandatory mask wearing on public vehicles and in schools.
“We are cognisant this rigid stipulation could not continue for an incessant period. However, we are imploring all workers and commuters to take personal responsibility for their health,” Mark Haynes, the group’s communications and information officer, said in a release yesterday.
“There is no harm [in sanitising hands] wherever possible or practical, as COVID’s life has not come to an end, and is not as precarious as it was previously. There are still some persons in our community who still have some health challenges and may be deemed most vulnerable, so please do not be reckless and overly insensitive. We have to be caring, compassionate, wise and understanding,” he urged. (Nation News)
