Racing enthusiasts will be treated to a Christmas bonus tomorrow when five-time winning Gold Cup jockey Jalon Samuel graces the Garrison Savannah on Boxing Day.

It will be Samuel’s first appearance since landing the 2020 Gold Cup in March on Sir David Seale’s Night Prowler.

The 26-year-old of Brittons Hill, St Michael has been contracted to ride seven charges on the Diamonds International Crown Of Light Boxing Day At The Races Raceday card, which starts at 2 p.m.

Fans can expect plenty of breathtaking action from Samuel despite the jockey’s title looking like a straight fight between champion apprentice Teshawn Hazelwood and jockey Rey Williams.

Samuel will bring to the fore his experience gained from rubbing shoulders with America’s best jockeys, including the Ortiz brothers – champion Irad Jr and Jose; Luis Saez, Joel Rosario, Flavien Prat, Javier Castellano and Johnny Velazquez. (LY)
