Three babies have so far made a grand entrance on New Year’s Day – one at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) and twin girls at the Bayview Hospital – while another was on the way.

The first baby, a girl, born to first-time mother Chinica Franklin and Renaldo Toppin, made her entrance at 7:16 a.m., and weighed seven pounds, two ounces, nine days overdue.

When the NATION ONLINE team visited the QEH, baby Rennica was surrounded by her godfathers Carl Bovell and Jules Clavier, and grandmother Dorette Franklin.

One other woman is currently in early labour in the delivery suite.

Meanwhile, over at Bayview Hospital, another first-time mother welcomed twin girls.

Quinn and Willow Blenman were born two minutes apart, weighing five pounds 14 ounces, and five pounds 14.5 ounces respectively, and were early babies.

Their mother declined to have her name used or pictures taken.  (RA)
