Judge: It’s job when not on jury panel

Go back to work when you are discharged because the court will not lie for you.

This was the warning given by Justice Pamela Beckles as she welcomed new jurors to her court on Wednesday.

The caution follows a similar warning given by Justice Laurie-Ann Smith Bovell to her jurors on Monday.

It also comes in the wake of an empanelled juror’s complaint that she had not been paid by her employer, who wanted proof of her hours at court.

Justice Beckles told the new jurors she hoped there would be no issues relating to their employers while they were serving. She added she also hoped they would find the experience worthwhile. (HLE)
