Barbadian racer Zane Maloney will compete in this year’s 2023 FIA Formula Two Championship with Carlin Motorsport.

The teenager, who finished runner-up in last year’s FIA Formula Three Championship, rejoins the outfit with which he competed in his victorious 2019 British Formula Four season as well as the 2020 Euroformula Open.

READ: At the end of last season, it was announced that Maloney would be a reserve Formula 1 driver for Red Bull.

Fellow Red Bull Junior team member, Brazilian-American Enzo Fittipaldi also joins Carlin for the Formula Two season. The duo drove with the team during post-season testing in Abu Dhabi and are now looking forward to official pre-season testing to get underway next month in Bahrain.

Maloney makes the step up to Formula Two after an outstanding rookie season Formula Three which season consisted of three race victories, four podiums and two pole positions.

“Joining Carlin in F2 and to do so as part of the Red Bull Junior Team is a fantastic opportunity after my first year of F3 last season,” Maloney said.

“I’m re-joining a team I know extremely well and have won a championship with before in F4. I’ve seen first-hand how strong the team is in F2 and we had a great test together last year in Abu Dhabi. To embark on this journey in Red Bull colours is a dream come true and I’m incredibly excited to get the season underway in Bahrain next month.”

The Formula Two season will commence on the weekend of March 3 to 5 at the Bahrain International Circuit and conclude on the weekend of November 24 to 26 at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi.  (NM)
