Barbados will host the Junior Pan American Hockey Championships from April 10 to 18 at the National Hockey Centre. And organisers believe the Under-21 tournament, which will feature eight teams including the hosts in both male and female competition, will be a major boost to the local game.

“We think it’s very important to bring the competition to different areas in our continent, even small hockey communities, so they have the opportunity to showcase their events,” said events coordinator of the Pan American Hockey Federation, Laura Macchioti.

“The Federation and the Olympic Committee are putting together everything we need to have a top tournament as it is a World Cup qualifier, so it will be a very nice tournament.” (Nation News)
