Lodge Road duly completed an emphatic victory by 71 runs over Bathsheba to take home the champions’ title of the Barbados Cricket League’s 2022, two-day competition which climaxed at Lears, St George yesterday.

Set a target of 220, Bathsheba, who conceded first innings lead and therefore had to win outright to capture the title, were dismissed for 148 in 41.3 overs, well inside the final hour.

Lodge Road added four runs to the overnight 177 for nine, with secondary school student Nathan Sealy claiming the last wicket to complete figures of 7 for 57 off 17.1 overs. The Barbados Under-17 and Under-19 left arm spinner shared the wickets with legspinner Kareem Knight who picked up three for 60 runs.

Bathsheba got off to a solid 38-run start compliments openers Shane (10) and Ken Mayers (23) but suffered a slump once the pair were separated by former junior and senior national all-rounder Ryan Nurse. (WH)
