Lodz – Tristan Evelyn continued her excellent early season form by breaking her national indoor 60 metre record for the second time in as many weeks.

The national sprinter finished in a time of 7.19 seconds in Heat 1 of the women’s 60-metre dash at the Orlen Cup Lodz 2023 in Poland. She was second in her heat and qualified for the final.

Barbados’ fastest woman, who turned 25 years old on January 25, ran in lane 4 in the final and very nearly replicated her stellar performance.

A time of 7.20 seconds earned her third place behind Italy’s Zaynab Dosso (7.14 seconds) and home crowd favourite Ewa Swoboda (7.14) who stuck a nose ahead of Dosso.

Evelyn’s performances will fill her with confidence as she competes throughout February in hopes of qualification for the World Indoor Tour Final in Birmingham UK. Her time of 7.19 seconds is a further improvement on her national record of 7.21 seconds which she set last Sunday in Germany. (RW)
