Unfair to have to relive ordeal, says victim

A sexual assault victim has described having to relive her ordeal as unfair and said victims should never be made to do so.

“We as the victims should never be put in the position to have to relive this. It not fair to me. It’s not fair to any of us at this stage to have to come and relive all of this again,” she said.

The woman, who was 15 at the time, was giving her victim impact statement when Pedro Alfonzo Burgess reappeared in the No. 4 Supreme Court.

Burgess, of Baycroft New Road, Bridge Road, St Michael, had pleaded guilty to assaulting the woman on May 25, 2012, with intent to rape her.

He had also pleaded guilty to entering a woman’s house between August 25 and 26, 2018 with intent to indecently assault her daughter, and raping a 14-year-old girl on April 27, 2012. (HLE)
