The 40th running of the Sandy Lane Barbados Gold Cup promises to be one of the biggest ever in its history and all is in place for today’s big day at the historic Garrison Savannah.

The magnificent beasts competing in today’s ten-race card took part in their final gallops around the Garrison track last Saturday and were put through only light exercises this week to maintain their conditioning.

In addition to the high stakes races on the track, there will be entertainment compliments Sandy Lane Hotel for the thousands of patrons expected to attend, with the Grand Stand sold out weeks prior to the Gold Cup.

The newly introduced Gold Cup Village will be held in conjunction with the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. on the Garrison’s centre field with an elevated deck, lounge seating and live dj entertainment.  (NM)
