Barbadian Zane Maloney finished third in the 2023 FIA Formula 2 season’s first feature race earlier today at the Bahrain International Circuit in Bahrain.

Maloney made up a stunning 15 places on the grid after starting in 18th place to grab his first podium finish, proving once again why he is hailed as one of the region’s foremost drivers.

By the third lap, he had already made up a whopping 11 places, sending a strong message to the rest of the field.

The teenager’s charge continued in the later laps as no one was safe from his need for speed. In the end, he sealed his maiden F2 podium finish behind Saturday’s sprint winner Ralph Boschung who was second, and eventual winner Théo Pourchaire, who started in pole position. (NM)
