Kadeem Shakeel Mayers was fined a total of $16 000 for a gun and a bullet when he appeared in the No. 4 Supreme Court yesterday.

Mayers, 25, of Bannister Land, Martindales Road, St Michael, had pleaded guilty, at a previous Session of the Continuous Sittings, to having a .22-calibre revolver and one round of .22-calibre ammunition on December 23, 2018.

He was represented by King’s Counsel Michael Lashley, and attorneys Sade Harris and Zudie Payne, while State Counsel Maya Kellman and Treann Knight appeared for the state.

Justice Laurie-Ann Smith-Bovell, in her sentence, said after considering the facts and submissions by counsel, she had formed the opinion that although the offence merited a custodial sentence, that was not the only sentence that would do justice to the case. (HLE)
