Worker dies after fall into well

A 65-year-old man fell to his death in a well this afternoon.

Alfred Evor Odle of Deal Gardens, Maxwell, Christ Church, an employee of Infra Construction and another 54-year-man were cleaning the pit located at the south ramp of the Grantley Adams International Airport runway.

The incident occurred around 1:45 p.m. and reports are that Odle, upon reaching the top of the well, slipped and fell 60 feet down the hole.

Firefighters from the nearby Airport Fire Station responded and retrieved Odle’s body around 3:20 p.m.  He was pronounced dead by a doctor on the scene. (AC)
