A former bank clerk, who used over $30 000 in stolen bank money to buy a car, go on a cruise, attend a Beyonce concert in Trinidad and other things until he had nothing left, remains on bail after he threw in the towel in his matter.

Two witnesses into his trial, Caleb Daniel Richard Alfonzo Cooke changed his plea and confessed to a theft charge in the No. 4A Supreme Court.

Cooke, of Frenches Gardens, St George, had pleaded not guilty to stealing $34 802.04, on September 3, 2010, belonging to RBTT Bank Barbados, the proceeds of a cheque dated August 9, 2010, from RBTT Bank made payable to the Barbados Public Workers’ Cooperative Credit Union.

Senior State Counsel Olivia Davis and Senior State Counsel Joyann Catwell prosecuted, while Cooke was represented by attorney Safiya Moore. (HLE)
