Members of the Senate passed the Appropriation Bill, 2023 on Wednesday, almost a week after it went through the House of Assembly, signaling the official approval of Government’s expenditure for the upcoming financial year.

“When a Budget and a set of estimates is presented and we are having what is fundamentally an economic and financial debate…and the one member who is typically on the other side who is an economist, does not speak anything about the economic merits or demerits of our programme, I would have to say to the Government of Barbados, job well done,” said the Minister of Energy and Business Development Lisa Cummins who is also Leader of Government Business.

“If there was something to argue about, you would have had it….This is the first time that I can see any evidence that there was not a critique of the substance of the contribution for Government.”

The Upper House also said yes, without debate, to a resolution on the Barbados Fiscal Framework 2023-2024 to 2025-2026 before adjourning until next Wednesday. (Nation News)
