The Estates – a way to live

A diverse group of individuals from Barbados and abroad will soon be calling The Estates at St George home.

The good news is that there is still time, and room, for others who want to reside at the Caribbean’s first active lifestyle community, developed on 32 and a half acres of land in the picturesque St George countryside.

Excitement is high among the team at project sponsor Sagicor and everyone who embraced the vision of this unique initiative and turned it into reality.

This is especially so for the incoming residents from Barbados, the Caribbean, and diaspora, who were recently welcomed by the The Estates Management and Sales team for a viewing of the clubhouse and other amenities they and others will enjoy daily.

The community, with its welcoming surroundings, delivers in the soon-to-be-complete Phase 1, 88 condominiums. In this phase, the residential offering includes studios in addition to one- and two-bedroom units. Seventy-five per cent of these units have already been acquired. Value priced; one-bedroom units begin at BDS $474 000. When complete, the community will feature 208 residences in total.

The 88 condominiums offered in Phase 1, are built out across four buildings. The Ixora and Ginger Lily buildings have already sold out. Whereas in the Mahogany and Banyan residences there remains on offer a selection of one- and two-bedroom condominiums. Fortunately for other prospective buyers, they can still purchase in this growing community.

The residences which are designed with energy efficiency and green initiatives in mind, have been built to withstand up to a Category 4 hurricane (according to Saffir-Simpson scale).

The developer intends to launch its Phase 2 residences which will feature two- and three-bedroom condominiums in the months ahead.

The first group of homeowners include Barbadians, both living on island and residing in the diaspora, some people who have chosen to make Barbados a second home, and some of our Caribbean neighbours. What has become a welcome potpourri of homeowners and residents, have either purchased homes at The Estates for themselves, a family member, or as an investment.

On the inside of their new homes, residents will find homely, spacious, and elegantly appointed units. All units are accessed via secure electronic entry systems and will feature Wi-Fi, solar water heating and air-conditioned bedrooms. Further, the condos’ well-equipped interiors include quality stainless steel kitchen appliances and large capacity washer-dryer facilities.

Community, security, convenience and care in a relaxing setting: Residents will have plenty to do and can look forward to pleasing themselves with as much or as little activity as they choose. They will have access to an impressive, spacious clubhouse with gym, tennis courts and on-site dining at The Grille Restaurant or the Pub, both of which will soon be offering their fare. There’s also Italia Coffee coming online along with a spa in the coming months.

Other care and conveniences include iMart convenience store and pharmacy, and 24/7 medical services provided by Urgent Care.

This gated and fully secured community of residences, with its walking trails and welcoming green spaces, including garden areas, is perfect for meditation, and enjoyment of the outdoors with soul-restoring views of the breezy St George Valley.

The clubhouse is an open air restaurant with patio terraced dining options and a private dining room for special occasions. It is perfect for a gathering of family and friends. Residents and their guests will be able to enjoy a meal in the restaurant, or their beverage at the cozy pub.

With the Clubhouse concierge service, residents will benefit from workshops, classes and other activities. Programming designed to enrich the lives of homeowners as they age will also be provided, as well as social, health and wellness programmes.  The lovers of yoga, cooking, art classes, dominoes, card games, and those with other hobbies will also feel at home as it is all about what residents want to see and enjoy.

Another option is the nearby poolside, perfect for a relaxing swim with friends enjoying poolside service from the bar or for those who prefer to get a little wet while they exercise: swimming laps or if preferred, group aquacise.

The fitness centre has a full range of equipment to meet the needs of fitness enthusiasts and beginners. For those who prefer outdoors, The Estates offers 14.5 acres dedicated to green space:  There is an expansive, breezy countryside green space ideal for exercise or finding tranquility; residents will enjoy  walking trails, a fruit orchard, hobby gardening area and a community green.

Sustainability will also be a vital part of the community. The property includes a number of lakes that capture over one million gallons of rain water run off for reuse. In addition, all effluent from the development is recovered at a tertiary level wastewater treatment plant, with the treated water produced being used for drip irrigation in the landscaped areas. The development also has plans to develop a significant solar farm which will further lower its carbon footprint.

Residents’ health care needs will also be well taken care of. Urgent Care at The Estates is already in operation, providing a vast range of options under one roof. Whether for a regular check-up, or to treat illness or injury, this modern health facility is staffed by a team of experienced physicians, including those trained in emergency care. Urgent Care also provides state-of-the-art digital imaging services, including X-ray, ultrasound and CT scanning. A dental clinic offering the latest preventative and emergency dental services, and an ambulance service is also on site and available to residents and the wider community.

The Estates has been designed and built to appeal to people who are taking a long-term view on their lifestyle, including busy professionals, those who desire care and convenience at their fingertips and those to whom the idea of right-sizing and decluttering appeals. All will feel right at home in an environment that offers relaxation, wellness, vitality, a sense of belonging, and opportunities to learn and enrich your life. And for those who are planning for their older years, the Tamarind senior living residence will offer the same amenities with the additional comforts of personal and nursing care.

All of this illustrates that more than being a place to live, The Estates is a way to live.
