Midfielder Shanice Stevenson marked her return to international football with two goals and an assist in the Barbados senior women’s team’s emphatic 5-1 victory over St Lucia in the first of two international friendlies on Friday night at the Wildey Turf.

The Lady Tridents returned to action after almost a year since their 2022 Concacaf W Qualifying campaign ended with two losses to El Salvador and Belize last April.

The Mario Harte-coached team showed little signs of ring rust against their Caribbean counterparts as they eased to a 4-0 lead by half time.

Without first choice centre backs Alyssa Yard and Adrienne Forde who are nursing injuries, Harte found reliable deputies in Moesha Goodman and the returning Shanelle Als, who shielded goalkeeper Rhea Holder admirably for the duration of the contest.

The Lady Tridents play at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. (NM)
