Saffie rules at Gulfstream

Trainer Saffie Joseph Jr proved his 2021/2022 Championship Meet title was no fluke as he stoutly defended his title to repeat as champion taking this year’s edition with 47 wins.

Although going winless on the season’s final weekend which ended Sunday, April 2 Joseph’s lead in the trainer’s quest at Gulfstream Park was enough to secure him another success.

The 36-year-old of Thorpes Gardens, Holder Hill, St James, from his 238 starters, amassed earnings of US $2 178 626 for a win percentage of 20.

For the second year in succession Joseph toppled Hall Of Fame trainer, Todd Pletcher whose 185 runners won 41 races while helping to credited his account to the sum of US$3 594 886.  (LY)
