Wales vs Paradise in Champions Cup first round

Premier League juggernauts Weymouth Wales and Paradise will clash in the first-round of the 2023 Barbados Football Association (BFA) Champions Cup knockout competition after being drawn against each other this morning at the Wildey Turf.

It’s a highly anticipated fixture, featuring two of the island’s top clubs and will set the scene for what promises to be a mouth-watering tournament.

It means that midfielder Ackeel Applewhaite on a season-long loan to reigning Republic Cup champions Wales could face his club Paradise.

Abrahams United Silver Sands, the basement boys of the Premier League will face title contenders Brittons Hill United.

St Andrew Lions battle against Empire while Republic Cup runners-up Ellerton take on Lodge Road. Based on the draw, four top-flight clubs will go head-to-head in the opening round.

Each team will play a two-match tie, with the match days taking place between April 22 and April 30. Sixty-two teams will contest the competition with the draw being done by the FIFA  connect system.
