Father owns up to dropping baby

Initially Akida Javonne Bradshaw told investigators he discovered his three-month-old daughter was not breathing properly after she had spent all day crying and screaming.

She was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, but doctors failed to save her.

However, when an autopsy revealed the child had died from blunt head trauma and Bradshaw was confronted by police, he admitted he had dropped his daughter, who hit her head, and had been too scared to tell anyone.

Bradshaw, of Sturges, St Thomas, was in the No. 4 Supreme Court, where he pleaded guilty to unlawfully killing (manslaughter) Akela Bradshaw on May 2, 2015.

He was represented by attorney Kendrid Sargeant who asked for a pre-sentencing report and a psychological evaluation of the man. (HLE)
