Barbadian all rounder Deandra Dottin has signed a deal that will see her return to England to represent Thunder Cricket for the entirety of the 2023 domestic season.

The former West Indian international arrived in Manchester this week and will be available for selection for Thunder’s opening match of the Rachael Heyhoe Flint Trophy against South East Stars at Emirates Old Trafford on Saturday.

Dottin played six matches for Thunder last summer which coincided with her controversial decision to retire from international duty to focus on playing domestic cricket around the world.

Regional Director of Women’s Cricket for the North West, David Horley said: “Firstly we are thrilled to welcome Deandra back to Emirates Old Trafford and to have here with us and available for the entire regional domestic season is a real advantage. It was brilliant to have somebody with Deandra’s experience and skill around our squad last summer albeit only for two brief spells. We are really looking forward to having her around for much longer which will hopefully lead to lots of productive performances out on the pitch.”

Dottin joins Steph Butler, Hannah Rainey, Naomi Dattani, Fi Morris and Tara Norris in Thunder Cricket during the off season as they look to revamp their playing squad.

The 31-year-old most recently represented Barmy Army Women in the FairBreak Invitational Tournament 2023, scoring 201 runs in five innings at an average of 40.20 as well as taking three wickets.

She made 270 appearances across both formats for the Windies, scoring 6 424 runs including five centuries and 34 half-centuries, while also taking 134 wickets. (JC)
