Chelsea Tuach advanced to the semi-final round of the 2023 Pan American Surfing Games in Santa Catalina, Panama, yesterday.

The Barbadian finished second overall in heat three with a score of 11.37, behind Lucia Indurain of Argentina (11.66), and in so doing qualified for the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games scheduled for El Salvador in June and the Pan American Games slated for late October in Santiago, Chile.

“My main goal coming to these Games was to qualify for Santiago and the CAC and I am really happy with my performance. Now the pressure is off and I’m just excited to put forward my best performance and take home the win,” she said.

It was a bittersweet moment for team Barbados because while Tuach qualified, her namesake Chelsea Roett, who was also in heat three, finished in fourth position after registering 7.27 and failed to advance. (ML)
