Barbadian DeSean Boyce may have booked his ticket to Budapest, Hungary, for the 2023 World Athletics Championship.

Boyce, 21, stormed to a winning 44.85 seconds on Saturday at the National Junior College Athletic Association Division One Outdoor Championships, well under the 45 seconds qualifying standard.

In the process, the freshman and former Coleridge and Parry student became only the second Barbadian to dip under 45 seconds in the 400 metres, the other being national record holder and Commonwealth bronze medallist Jonathan Jones.

The World Championships will be held from August 19 to 27. (RW)
