Barbados recorded a road fatality at Boscobelle Road, near its junction with Baltic Road, St.Peter at 12:20 p.m. on Friday.

The deceased is a 56-year-old man from Four Hill, St Peter who was the front seat passenger, and he and the driver were the only two occupants of the vehicle.

The accident involved a motor lorry owned by the Barbados Water Authority and driven by Rohan Wilkinson, 46 years, of Exchange Hill, St. Michael. He was subsequently identified as Victor Blackman.

Police said the vehicle was transporting potable water to the residents in the area. As it approached a corner, the vehicle left the carriageway to its nearside and overturned. The passenger was thrown out of the cabin, and the driver was trapped behind the driver’s wheel during this process.
The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was extracted with the help of several onlookers. He was treated at the scene by medical personnel and transported for medical attention. His injuries are not life-threatening.

  1. Using seatbelt would most probably saved his life. Take care and always and always use seatbelts when on the road (in the backseats too, of course).
