A dominant unbeaten knock of 71 from 72 balls and bowling figures of two for 32 by player of the final Kelani Clarke lifted the St Leonard’s Boys’ School (SLB) to the Everton Weekes Under-13 cricket title yesterday at the Maurice King Sports Complex, Briar Hall.

Playing against Christ Church Foundation School in the Barbados Cricket Association’s (BCA) final, the lads from Richmond Gap dispatched their opposition by ten wickets in a rain-affected match.

Captain Clarke, the competition’s highest run-scorer, and his opening partner Kieran Gittens, who contributed 26 not out, chased the revised target of 118, without blemish, in 23 overs with three overs to spare. Gittens blazed seven fours and one six in an hour and a half at the crease.

Earlier, Foundation posted 143-6 in 32 overs, thanks to a top-score of 32 from 30 deliveries from captain Shai Thorne, who stroked five fours. (RW)
