Formula 2 driver Zane Maloney will once again attempt to add a rally championship to his already impressive resume when he suits up for this year’s Sol Rally Barbados which begins tonight at Bushy Park.

The 19-year-old became the youngest winner of the First Citizen’s King of the Hill last year and while he did not finish the rally, he made a great impression on the scores of fans who got to see him up close and personal in the rally arena for the first time.

He missed this year’s King of the Hill due to Formula 2 commitments in Barcelona, Spain where he finished a disappointing 15th and 16th in the sprint and feature races.

“A lot of things outside of our control cost us a lot of time in qualifying which was really annoying,” Maloney told Weekend Sport of his Barcelona experience.

“On one qualifying lap, I had a lot of problems so it was a disaster qualifying when we should have been in the top five with the pace that we had. In Barcelona it’s very impossible to make up too much ground unless something crazy happens.”  (NM)
