A special player of the match performance by Matthew Jones lifted BWU Gladiola to the Barbados Cricket Association Elite/First Division T20 Cup yesterday at Weymouth.

Left-arm spinner Jones took 2-16 in four overs as Gladiola restricted Bayview Hospital YMPC to 157-8 in 20 overs.

In the chase, Jones struck five fours and two sixes in an unbeaten match-winning knock of 39 runs off 19 deliveries while playing his part in a 52-run partnership with captain Ashley Nurse which sealed a convincing five-wicket victory for Gladiola.

The imposing Nurse hit three lusty sixes off YMPC leg-spinner Mario Miller, the third six over long-on to score the winning runs in a cameo of 24 runs from 15 deliveries. (RW)
