On the current forecast track, Tropical Storm Cindy poses no threat to Barbados and there are no associated watches or warnings, says the Barbados Meteorological Services.
At 5 p.m. Friday, the centre of Tropical Storm Cindy was located near 13.3N 49.3W, approximately 684miles (1100km) to the east of Barbados.
It is presently moving towards the west-northwest (295 degrees) at 16mph (26km/h), with maximum sustained winds of 50mph (85km/h) and a minimum central pressure of 1003mb.
Sea surface temperature has been sufficiently warm under Tropical Storm Cindy for favourable development. However, there has been a decline in its previous structure over the past couple hours as some dry air has entered into its circulation.
The current model consensus is that Tropical Storm Cindy will continue to track to the northeast of the island chain, before weakening early next week as it enters an environment of deep-layered shear.
Meanwhile, Tropical Storm Bret is losing strength over the Eastern Caribbean Sea. However, rain and gusty winds are still lingering in the Windward Islands. (PR/SAT)
