It was the RF Prime show, starring Akemi Taryn Sutherland with a beaver trick, as they blanked Pinelands 7-0 during Wednesday’s quarter-final match of the Barbados Football Association Women’s Champions Cup at the Wildey AstroTurf.

There was no doubt about whether the youthful RF Prime women’s team would advance given their reputation as one of the strongest sides in women’s football locally.

Sutherland has been in tremendous form so far this season and was yet again unstoppable, scoring in the 24th, 25th, 54th and 61st minutes. Pinelands’ defenders failed to mark effectively and that caused lots of headaches and misery for them and goalkeeper Lisa Harding, who joined the team a couple of minutes after the start.

During the first 20 minutes of the first half, the battle was mostly in the midfield. However, RF Prime, as expected, took the early lead in the 17th minute thanks to Akemi Frkovich, a native of Peru. (ML)
