Following the completion of the Barbados Turf Club’s (BTC) third day of racing of its second season, a treble by defending champion apprentice jockey Teshawn Hazelwood has propelled him into a share of the championship lead.

Wins on Priceless, Rightontime and Storm Catcher have now positioned him alongside first season champion Rasheed Hughes on 15 wins in the quest for the jockey’s title at the Garrison Savannah.

Hazelwood, from Briar Hall, Christ Church, skilfully crafted his way to a share of the day’s honours with fellow jockey Rey Williams, whose personal best performance saw him securing victories with Hard Knock Life, Pace and War Party.

Both of Hazelwood’s first two wins were for trainer Richard Deane and groom Kerland Felecien. (LY)
