World-class Barbadian athlete Sada Williams equalled her 400 metres season’s best of 50.34 seconds to win the one-lap race on Tuesday at the 13th Gyulai István Memorial in Székesfehérvár, Hungary.

Competing at the Bregyó Athletic Centre, Williams was a class above a heavily-packed European field which also included Jamaican Charokee Young and American duo Makenzie Dunmore and Kaylin Whitney.

Running in her eighth 400m of the season and third race in six days, Williams imposed herself down the backstretch, gaining the ascendency after 200 metres.

The composed 2022 Commonwealth Games champion attacked the top curve, before comfortably striding away for the win in a dominant 50.34 seconds, dismissing Romanian Andrea Miklós (50.80) and Austrian Susanne Gogl-Walli (50.87) who ran a personal best for third.

Dunmore (51.20) finished fourth, and Czech Tereza Petržilková (51.28) was fifth in a new personal best.

Young (51.35) placed sixth, while Norwegian Line Kloster (52.17) came seventh and Whitney (52.75) for eighth. (RW)
