A multi-purpose car park depicting Barbadian heritage is planned for the Barbados Museum and Historical Society (BMHS) at the Garrison.

Details of an initial design of the project were presented at a Town Hall meeting last Thursday at the Wall Garden of the museum by Kevin Talma, a Barbadian landscape architect and design consultant.

“The design is based on celebrating the natural history (Bora) of Barbados within the context of a civic urban design detail,” he said.

“The design is proposed to be civic in layout and function while incorporating the planting palettes that will speak to pre-Colombian Barbados landscapes, colonial and agricultural landscapes and finally modern landscapes that reference themes of sustainability and honouring the heritage planting ideas.”

The architect said it was hoped that the project would influence development of an enhanced environment at the Garrison. (HH)
